There lived a poor Brahmin woman who was widowed at a young age. She was left with little support to look after her son. She would seek alms to make her ends meet. One day, when she was on her way to her humble shelter, she found a prince lying injured. Without worrying about her own plight, the woman took the wounded prince home. Days passed by, and one day, a Gandharva princess named Anshumati laid her eyes on the charming prince. And she soon fell in love with him.
Subsequently, she visited the poor Brahmin's house with her parents and got the prince introduced to them. A few days later, Lord Shiva appeared in Anshumati's parents' dream and suggested they get their daughter married to the prince.
Anshumati's parents took Lord Shiva's command as blessings and got their daughter married to the prince. Eventually, the prince defeated his enemy and freed his parents, who had been held captive. He also won his lost kingdom.
